Formulas for Diffusing Essential Oils

Jan 27, 2015 | Essential Oils, Recipes & Formulas

Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways. One of the most effective methods is by diffusing a mist in the air. This mist is a combination of the essential oils and water.

There are many possible therapeutic affects for any given oil formula. These obviously depend on the specific oils used and their ratios within the mixture.  This page is a collection of formulas I have used over the years in many environments. It is shared here in the hope you find it useful in your own use of the volatile oils from the plant world.

The general way to use a diffuser is to add 10 drops of the combined formula to the water, then turn it on and enjoy.

New formulas will be added regularly, with the newest addition at the top of the list. Enjoy!

10 drops Sweet Orange
6 drops Lemon
8 drops Frankincense – there are several species available. One of my favorites is Boswellia papyrifera although others can be used
4 drops Myrrh
2 drops Juniper Berry or Leaf
4 drops Night Blooming Jasmine

Combine in a dropper bottle, shake well and add 10 drops to the diffuser.

This combo has been helpful during the winter cold and flu season. It also influences the nervous system, being both uplifting to the mood and calming to the senses.
